Our Ranch Story
Who We Are
Founded in 1975 by Dr. T. Ward Locklear and his wife, Mopsy, MW Hereford Ranch started as a weekend hobby for a full-time surgeon but quickly became a shared vision of raising quality Herefords and creating a family legacy. The “MW” in our name is a tribute to Mopsy and Ward's legacy and the deep-rooted family values that shaped the ranch from the beginning.
Today, the ranch lives on through their daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Steve, who pour endless hours into maintaining the operation and raising the next generations of MW Hereford Ranch through their own children and grandchildren.
The ranch prides itself on Herefords that are primarily range-grazed and thrive in a range of conditions. At MW Hereford Ranch, we are more than a cattle operation; we're a small family striving to fulfill the legacy and tradition of the "MW" in our name. We’re honored to share our story, our cattle, and our values with each person we meet.
